Birthplace of the first sailor to circle the globe
Getaria
Why Getaria?
The small port town of Getaria, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, is a paradise for food lovers, famed for its fresh seafood and charcoal-grilled fish! It is the proud homeland of Elcano, the first man to ever circumnavigate the globe, and of world-renowned designer Cristóbal Balenciaga, whose elegant museum watches over the sea. Along the harbour lined with white-washed houses, a gentle sea breeze carries a nostalgic warmth that welcomes every traveller.
